Iowa is one of the tougher environments in the country for keeping a vehicle clean. Winter road salt, gravel dust, spring pollen, summer bugs and heat cycles all attack paint, wheels and interiors on a schedule most detailers in warmer states never deal with.
For a typical Des Moines-area daily driver, we recommend an Exterior Detail every 4–6 weeks and a Full Detail (interior + exterior) every 3–4 months. That keeps contamination from bonding to paint and prevents the interior from ever getting to the point where a deep reset is needed.
Family SUVs — car seats, food, snow boots — usually do best on a Full Detail every 90 days with Maintenance Details in between. Luxury and enthusiast vehicles stored in a garage can stretch to a Full Detail every 4–6 months, especially with ceramic coating.
The single biggest mistake we see is waiting for the vehicle to look bad. By then contamination is already bonded to paint and stains are set. A steady maintenance cadence is cheaper, faster and produces a better-looking vehicle year-round.
